They would. They do. By taxing. The alternative is feudalism where the local lord buys as much of those public services as he finds useful to him, and the heck with everybody else.

Alas that does go on now, anyway. But we do have "public money" which is supposed to benefit everybody and be voted on how it is spent.

If the street lights were privately owned, you might have to pay a dollar to walk past one. If you were hard up that month, you would be denied normal things like street lights.

It's nice to have free parks. You can sit in them even when you are too broke to pay an entrance fee. They are public, taxpayer funded.

Some taxing is necessary.

So the basis for your argument is the only thing holding the republic together is federal taxation? We’d do away with elections and feudalism would reign supreme because we don’t have our wages garnished? Holy shit where were you when King George needed you?

This guy is a federal reserve shill. Don’t bother wasting your time arguing with him. Downvote and move on..

Yes. If you don't fork over the money for an alternative to feudalism, tribalism, local warlord-ism, that is what you default to. I am in favor of the modern nation. With its army and laws. This nation had to become a real nation. That will require an army, and an army must be paid. It is only lefties who think people work and fight for some abstract do-gooder ideal. They do for a while. But if you want it to last, it has to pay, one way or another.

Communism is just King-George-ism with less fancy clothes, no ermine cloak, and no lace ruff. Same otherwise.

SOMEBODY is going to bother you, and that's going to cost you taxes, one way or another.

We all wish we could retire to the deep woods and just feed ourselves, and not need to pay social costs. Alas that never, ever works. We are not in the Garden of Eden and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young were wrong. You can't get back to the Gaaarden.

Not yet anyway. If God brings another era, sure. We have to hope for that, but it isn't here yet.
