Jefferson was indispensable. But Hamilton was indispensable too.
They were opposites, Jefferson the idealist, and Hamilton the realist, who got it all paid for, so we weren't shirtless in the street, laughed at as silly hippies, whose failed "republic" showed that liberty could never last, because it didn't pay. Men needed a king and inherited, severe, feudal authority to make them do a full day's work, that would have shown. Hamilton saved us from that.
It had to pay.
Jefferson died broke buying books.
Hamilton made our country survive.
What has no sound financial foundation does not last. Hamilton is on the ten dollar bill for good reason. He made it pay. Somebody had to. We owe it all to him.
Both men were geniuses and both men were necessary. It was that kind of generation. Amazing people.

Hamilton probably was no easy man to know.
So he was sort of like a John McCain was to Trump. Got it.
