In the article McInerney calls for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act, use National Guard to impound voting machines, suspend habeus corpus, invoke martial law, etc. McInerney alone is easily ignored or dismissed as a pathetic crank. But if even a half-dozen respected generals/admirals/statesmen joined him, it might happen.
