You're expected to take drugs because the "education" unions and the pharmaceutical companies teamed up to sell parents on the idea that the solution to bored children was prescription drugs.
i actually gained weight from by old meds and they didn't help me with my problem (eye twitches), my dad asked to switch my meds but she couldn't do that because she clearly didn't know what she was doing. my dad had to switch doctors from hoboken (a decent town in NJ) to a specialist in NYC (expensive).

I take slow release tablets and it does help me, although you can run your batteries down without knowing how tired you are 'behind the scenes'.
Every now and then I take a day from it and I generally sleep about 16 hours straight :)

I was one of these poor souls. They do it because we're normal humans and not people who followed their preffered plan
