That degree can be a valuable tool in advancing your career, so I wouldn't discourage people from getting one, but I don't think for a second that people who get them are somehow higher quality people. It's just a big certification arms race.

They bullied their way into creating all these made up programs (gender studies, for example) and many of the people you see today are a byproduct of it. College is fine if you go and get a degree that the world needs (STEM). I have a PhD in an Engineering field. I also grew up country poor and went into the military before college.
