Why would I need to do it myself? Silicon Valley's overrun with globohomo bullshit, we're gonna have to fix it anyway unless we want everything designed in Mandarin too. It'd be the perfect opportunity to upgrade all our computing technology: Optical instead of electronic, ternary logic instead of binary, maybe even quantum based in the near future.

But seriously, Computers are getting very, very fast and powerful.
Almost too powerful. They're running Hospitals, and are programmed to maximize profits and cut costs, ordering doctors and nurses around. Just plain scary.
Plus, remember, COVID-19 = $$$.
Especially scary since these systems need to need to be secured from foreign malicious actors.
Way I think of it is there's no way to stop it advancing in other countries anyway (we're barely managing to stop nuclear proliferation) so it's better to go all in and secure a dominant lead.
Definitely gonna need to take some cues from the Amish though so we don't let our whole society be run by tech
