Republican Party freed the slaves! In fact, they were created with Abe Lincoln!

Just remember we are trying to save the republic not the democracy...

Delving into the Latin, I wonder what would happen if decimate were to be made literal once again - against treasonous folks. If all of the perpetrators of election or financial fraud were lined up, then could a pede restrain themself enough to only destroy every tenth person? Or would the temptation be too great?

This was actually said by a priest in 13th Century France, during the Albigensian Crusade, when asked by a siege commander how to determine the good Christians from the heretics.

I still like to listen to "A Time for Choosing" even though it was before I was born. Captures perfectly our times.

I have a lot more experience with China than you, but what you said is exactly correct. By referring to them as modern monarchists, you have succinctly described what the CCP is really all about. I have said many times that China's political culture is dynastic more than it is Communist. And the rulers follow the logic of dynastic rulers, including setting up their children to rule after them.

One of our biggest problems here is that we have allowed too many "political families" to gain power. As much respect as I have for Don Jr., everything about political families is totally antithetical to what America is supposed to be.

Amnesty forever, electorally, fucked this country. Mandatory minimum sentences. Iran-Contra. FOPA 1986.

He might've cut taxes (while jacking up government spending) but he set this country down a dark path.

Abe was a tyrant who did a good thing by accident.

0
yodayoda 0 points ago +1 / -1

He didn't do a good thing. He invaded and destroyed the south.

1
Marshall 1 point ago +1 / -0

That was the bad thing. The good thing was emancipation.

0
yodayoda 0 points ago +1 / -1

He didn't emancipate anyone - that's propaganda. Sure, he stood up on some rock and read his 'emancipation proclamation.' It had no authority or power to do anything (Lincoln wasn't a king with the power to free slaves), and indeed it didn't do anything. It took an act of congress after the war was over.
