The only thing that is going to save us in the long run is transparency. They get away with so much evil by clouding the truth and hiding what they do behind national security and other classifications.
When the Declaration was written.. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Reading this tells you they knew slavery was wrong. Ending slavery was not dealt with at the time because we were fighting the strongest military force the world had ever known.
They knew it would tear our fragile country apart.. and it did.
