There are lots of people surrounding Trump that have been uncomfortably close to the Bush admin (inc Giuliani and Barr). I'm wondering about the strategy here.
A counterpoint is that one of the factions wanted to work with the European mobs (pretty sure it was the Russians), so Giuliani was essentially the key point to bring that into play by bringing down the NY-Italian families. Giuliani, then, was a hired gun.
If you look at what countries NATO dissolves, followed by mob presence throughout Europe and the US, it tells quite an interesting story. It's like Project Paperclip but with gangs.
