Everything is open, but i wouldn’t say “business as usual”, except maybe a few small areas.
Generally very high mask compliance still, at least in NW/NE Florida (not sure about south Florida but I imagine it’s probably worse) Hours are cut or modified, operations or procedures are changed in response to the coof, etc.
I never wear a mask, but even I’m still impacted and reminded that it’s not business as usual everyday.
Miami has been under assault of perpetual curfew, from a virus that apparently knows what time it is. Governor has taken the teeth out of mask mandates, but cops are still issuing tickets that the local government has pledged to back-bill (back-fine?) when the Governor's order expires, and still issues fines to businesses.
I don't have a problem with mask compliance the same way I don't have a problem with people practicing homeopathic "medicine", but the jackboots are still on a lot of people's necks.
Yeah this is why I feel like DeSantis has to do more. Miami and other areas developed these fines/citation orders AFTER his executive order. Which is pointless since the EO forbids collecting fines, but they do it anyways in defiance of it.
And instead of condemning them or going after these localities he just...reissues the same order.
I mean okay. But they obviously don’t care. Maybe they might not be physically taking money now, but they are accruing penalties on citizens over this!
What he should have done is made a new EO that states no business shall require the usage of any masks or facial coverings, in whole or in part, as a condition of being served or allowed entry into said business. No locality may issue, collect, assign, or calculate any fine, order, penalty, tax, fee, or anything there in related in spirit, which serves the purpose of being attributed to a person not wearing any mask or facial covering. Failure to adhere to these rules results in a mandatory jail sentence of X time
