To the contrary, every time we sin or fail to do good we are rejecting the grace of God. I know that most devout Protestants understand this but I think it's important always to remind people that simply believing in God and "loving" God, without true repentance which includes a reformation of one's way of life ("Go and sin no more.") is meaningless, or worse. It is to presume on God's mercy while you spit in His face.
Again I'm not accusing you of this, but it's important to warn against a Christianity that amounts to little more than merely feeling loved by God and feeling like one is full of the Holy Ghost. This is a house built on sand.
As a Christian who would mostly identify as a baptist I know where you are coming from. However, the fact that we have so many divisions and denominations is a mechanism of the devil. There should not be so many versions of Christianity. Just follow the Gospel and pray for God’s discernment.
Also, the Gospel states that salvation is simple, salvation solely comes from truly accepting Christ’s gift of salvation. This should indicate a change in ones attitude in life and you’ll still sin and struggle with vices, but as long as you do not “justify” your sin then you are reacting like a true believer would. Seek the Holy Spirit for healing and growth from your own sin. We cannot overcome sin solely on ourselves pray for the Holy Spirit to help strengthen you, it was given to us after Jesus’s resurrection.
America needs a spiritual revival. Get back to basics. Just follow the Bible. We don’t need a church or a priest to give us salvation, that’s what Catholicism teaches and it’s not biblical.

You do believe in a God above all things. You could not ask His forgiveness otherwise.
You understand that you actuall did something wrong. And that is the very first step at removing evil from your heart.

If you don't feel the need to "apologize to God" then you probably don't think what you did was that wrong or you don't believe in the absolute good that God is.
