I work at a grocery store. We were talking about the grocery business and one of my underlings (I'm the graveyard lead) made the comment of "well Capitalism sucks."
I asked him; "You really believe that?"
Commie: "oh yeah, never helped anyone."
My reply which made the room quiet and a fellow pede say "DAMN" was; "Do you enjoy you car? Your phone? Your shoes? Your clothes? Your apartment? Do you find pleasure in playing video games, on your TV, from your couch? Do you enjoy fast food? Do you enjoy the internet? Well Capitalism brought it all to you. As well as slashing global poverty in half since the 90s. So I look forward to you giving up all of your belongings and advocating for the starvation of children around the world."
Just for a little more insight, this kid is 23 and had to have a fellow coworker change his oil last month because he didn't know how to, and hadn't changed it in over a year...
He went home and told everyone how lost and sad his graveyard lead is. It's hard to fight through decades of Marxist programming. My approach isn't to hit them with facts (because it's never worked in all the times I've tried it), it's to get them to realize that all of their information has come from the same ideology. I couch it in the things we agree on-- I lean heavily libertarian, so I'm not a fan of, say, our tax dollars being used to push abstinence-only education in Africa.
Anyway.
