I always watch these old 80's commercials while I work sometimes, I grew up in the 80s and I feel that that was the best time to be a kid in America maybe the last great American decade. America seemed so innocent back then.

Yup...the social gospel movement started it. People thinking we were all the same in the eyes of God = we are all the same on earth is horse shit. That's where equality started.
