The republican party was started to end slavery. It was started not that long (a few years) before the first republican president was elected - and that president, Abraham Lincoln, did indeed end slavery. So there certainly is precedent.

I don't know how to do it on a large scale. I supposed like with most things, start small and grow. Obviously, it would be imperative for it to base it's platform on Constitutional principles.
