My frens,
In September 1777 the Continental Congress had to flee from Philadelphia as the British captured the American capital. After trying to retake the city and being pushed back, Washington retreated with his small army to take up winter quarters at Valley Forge. There, the defeated, freezing, and malnourished men suffered greatly. Imagine what they must have been thinking. Here were untrained men fighting the greatest military juggernaut in the world, and they had just been defeated in trying to protect the capital of the very country they were fighting for. Thousands died at Valley Forge due to malnourishment, smallpox, and freezing temperatures. And yet they persisted and fought on!
If you're like me, you're sitting in your comfortable, climate controlled home surrounded by family you love, with fast internet allowing you to see the steal happening in real time. It is pissing me off! It is making me ANGRY! I go through so many emotions throughout the course of the days and weeks... Pedes... do NOT give up or give in, "for these are the times that try men's souls."
But hear this: THIS IS OUR VALLEY FORGE! DO NOT GIVE IN TO DESPAIR OR BECOME DEMORALIZED. WE MUST FIGHT ON FOR OUR COUNTRY AND THE PRESIDENT WHO IS TRYING TO SAVE IT!
Thank you! This has encouraged me.
