The investigation started because Assange was being sent a ton of info, but he wasn't releasing much at that time. The Anons suspected that what Assange was really setting up was an international blackmail center.
So they looked into his financing. And this was waaay back, before he was front and center in the news...but it was Soros funding him.
Which is why I think he is sitting in prison right now. At some point, he decided to tell Soros to f*ck himself. And Soros had no way of getting at all of that blackmail info.
