Looking at old threads. Based your wife is more than you. My wife is Korean and her family sorta hates Japs. She is sorta based but still is sorta commie (10%)... In her town of Korea, there were Japanese prison cells on our base that were not tall enough so a person could stand. Koreans were held there in torture. The mountains were all trees cut down and Japanese pillboxes put on the mountain tops. Chinhae Korea. Where Japs tried invading in the 15th century. And later in the 19th century. My K Bro in law ( K spec forces) hates japan but I managed to get him come to Japan in 2018. He later said he loves Japan. Oh my wife's Grandma was forced (under beatings) to learn Japanese in Korea. I love both K and Japan but have to deal with the K fam's hate (I understand). Oh and Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb museums both states that "we were attacked for no reason" Do not show what happened in China or Korea or Pearl Harbor.. Just "Nukes are bad" LOL. Japan was fucked, in Nagasaki, they had slave labor Korean island until like 1960's. They say they did nothing wrong. Nagasaki Tower at night is beautiful though.
There is a lot of awkward shame about past atrocities. It generates many feelings, not much unlike how people react to "slave reparations" here in the US.
I was stationed in Korea. I saw some of the prisons and pillboxes (as I recall, some were still in use by Korea, but maybe not anymore)
