"Later in the night, Regina Waller, the Fulton County public affairs manager for elections, told ABC News that the election department sent the State Farm Arena absentee ballot counters home at 10:30 p.m. despite earlier intentions to complete processing Tuesday night. Some additional numbers could still come out Tuesday night, but as of now the staff will be back at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday."

"Fulton officials said their goal was to have 100,000 absentee plus drop-off ballots counted by the end of election night. Officials sent ballot counters home at 10:30 p.m. and said they'd return at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday."

"They planned to stop scanning absentee ballots at 10:30 p.m. and pick it up back in the morning. No official could explain before press time why Fulton was stopping its count of absentee ballots at that time, only saying that was the procedure.

“As planned, Fulton County will continue to tabulate the remainder of absentee ballots over the next two days. Absentee ballot processing requires that each ballot is opened, signatures verified, and ballots scanned. This is a labor-intensive process that takes longer to tabulate than other forms of voting. Fulton County did not anticipate having all absentee ballots processed on Election Day,” the county spokeswoman wrote in a statement."

"Elections board member Mark Wingate told reporters he believes the county won’t have definitive results until later this week. Fulton County Director of Registration and Elections Richard Barron said they will stop counting absentee ballots at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 3, and resume in the morning. "

Georgia law allows observers, but does not require them to be there for ballots to be counted, she said.

Well that's 100% incorrect.

"There is not supposed to be activity with election workers if there is not public view, that's the law in Georgia"

From the chairman at the hearing yesterday.

JamesClarker 3 points ago +3 / -0

They cited the wrong section I believe (likely intentionally). The counting should follow Section § 21-2-483 which clearly states public view. The section they cited appears to deal with the actual poling places for in person voting.

Please please please archive these as I'm sure these stories will be taken down or edited depending on how 1984 they want to get.

But it says "Fact Check", so it must be true, right? LOL!

4
john1234 [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yes, and the fact check was made by a CNN super-duper professional fact checker!

"Editor-in-Chief Alan Duke co-founded Lead Stories after ending a 26-year career with CNN "

davidmroth 3 points ago +3 / -0

Welp, I guess that makes it true then, huh? LOL!

Who's checking the checkers?

Funny how it's 2 different publications but the story is basically word for word the same

Yeah, that's a bunch of crap.

The bottleneck in the process isn't running things through the tabulator, those machines can count thousands of ballots an hour.

The bottleneck is opening the envelopes and having people witness the tabulation.

These people broke the law simply by counting things without witnesses. It's as simple as that and it's also most likely more nefarious than that, but at the very least they already broke one election law.

SidneyPowellsBoyToy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Witnessing and Verifying the signatures, addresses, postmark dates and voter files before opening the envelope... FTFY

-2
Bullet3250 -2 points ago +1 / -3

Agree... but it might be a function of 'how many people are verifying the ballots vs. how many are scanning.

The fact that they stated all work was ending at 10:30.... but then kept scanning is more of a problem.... (unless of course those ballots from under the table arrived magically!)

Is this the place where pipe had burst?

10
john1234 [S] 10 points ago +10 / -0

Yes, it's mentioned for example in the ABC story

It turned out to be a leaking toilet, which dripped drops of water on the bathroom floor, according to statements in the Georgia hearing

A pipe burst in State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Tuesday morning, causing a four-hour delay in processing election ballots, according to deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs

Definitely not what they said yesterday, they said it was "fixed" 2 hours later from 8-10 am.

I'd also love to know what they told everyone to leave the room

They planned to stop scanning absentee ballots at 10:30 p.m. and pick it up back in the morning. No official could explain before press time why Fulton was stopping its count of absentee ballots at that time, only saying that was the procedure.

They were clearly scanning these ballots, not opening or preparing them like we've been told by SOS.

There was also this nuggett from the wsbtv story

Justin Gray @JustinGrayWSB ·

Nov 4, 2020 After singing Fulton County’s praises all week, @GaSecofState was just HOT with them in a live interview with me on @wsbtv - he says they aren’t finishing the game - believes they should stay and keep counting absentee ballots deep into the night instead of waiting until tomorrow

Justin Gray @JustinGrayWSB

New: staff from @GaSecofState says despite what Fulton officials told our @MattWSB and other reporters on scene - Fulton election officials say tonight they are still scanning absentee ballots. State observers sent pictures showing the ballots still being counted

Not to mention the same people are recorded scanning batches of ballots multiple times, with no observers present, as the suitcases are rolled out

Edited to add a link to that press conference.

Just want to add to this that, in addition to the workers at State Farm Center being sent home, Richard Barron said in a press conference that he told the "vote review panel" (who, as far as I can tell, were located at the warehouse/tabulation building) to go home as well. So that's actually 2 separate groups in two separate buildings who were dismissed for the night. I'm trying to find the link to that press conference, but in the meantime here is the actual quote:

"I told the vote review panel an hour ago to come back at 10am because I didn’t figure it was good, it was, uh, enough to have them wait around…until we had a more significant total to give them. Uh, it went well overnight although you can see that the staff has dwindled.”

I'm trying to find the link to that press conference, but in the meantime here is the actual quote:

A b-class video of it with c-class audio:

There are so many microphones on the table that maybe someone has better quality, with longer video.

The leadstories debonking incorrectly cites Section § 21-2-408 of the Georgia code. The counting should follow Section § 21-2-483 (titled Counting of ballots; public accessibility to tabulating center and precincts; execution of ballot recap forms; preparation of dupilicate bags). This is the section that reads "all proceedings at the tabulating center and precincts shall be open to the view of the public..". Because it is well documented that the watchers AND media were told to leave, through law was broken.

There is also a procedure for ballot rejection, which if a republican representative was not there, they could not follow legally.
