I think ending a friendship is up to each individuals tolerance and the kind of morals they want to keep around them. I have a hard time keeping people in my circle who turn a blind eye to cheating/corruption (ONCE AGAIN) and are okay with it happening when it literally affects every citizen in the country. *shrugs - that's just me, to each their own.
