Yes. This is a potential method of fraud. It is concerning and brought up because people reported election workers doing exactly this

The alleged fraud is this

One of more of the machine is rigged so that votes are adjusted to be less than or more than one or not counted, while other machines are not.

When the person looks at the ballot, he also checks who they voted for and directs them to the “correct” machine

There’s no realistic reason why a specific ballots must go to in to a specific machine.
