Seemingly nobody under the age of 40 can pronounce the words; Mountain, Button, Carton, Threaten, etc.
I only knew a small handful of people when I was growing up, who had this issue....Now, it's 'Boomer' & weird if you don't sound like a retard while attempting to use these words.
👊 You get it. Thank you. I am one of those people who is very tuned into sounds and specifically voices. Vocal fry like Blasey-Ford and other lazy and affected vocal bad habits just grate on my ears. Also when people end every sentence as a question? Like they are not really sure about what they’re saying? And they need you to validate and affirm their every thought? 😂
I'm a tiny bit over 40 and from Michigan. It might be a Michigan thing. I do not say the 't' in any of those words. But until till today, I never really thought about it.

I don't get it.

Dude, I heard that just like you meant it.
I agree. I don't notice the 'Vocal Fry' as much as the others you mentioned.
Everything else does drive me up the wall as well.

Thanks.
It's not necessarily the hard 'T' we are talking about... it's the weird, halting , almost two separate words.
e.g. Button = Buh - En.
Ah, okay. I don't think I say them as two words, just don't pronounce the t. More like, 'buh'n,' 'moun'n.' With a hard stop where the t should be.
I'm over thinking this now. Gah!
haha...I think you are.
No worries. It's the strained, hard pause between syllables we found jarring.
Have a MAGA day, Centipede! Trump won by a LOT!!
