It’s because rural cops are known by the people. The urban/ city ones are faceless foot soldiers of the State. Cops also swear to uphold the Constitution, and many Sheriffs seem to fulfill this duty. The L.A. Sheriff has refused to enforce their Governor’s lockdown, they should go one step farther and swear to enforce the Constitution against any cops who violate it. We shouldn’t blindly support or oppose them. We need to support the good ones and oppose the bad ones.
