That quote is bullshit. Some people need antidepressants to operate and it has nothing to do with their external circumstances. Moronic statements like those sounds so wise to people who do not suffer clinical depression and discourage those who do from seeking help, and they spiral into alcohol and drug addictions. Like any drug, antidepressants have their side effects but $10 of Prozac a month is the difference between me being a successful surgeon and entrepreneur and sitting in a corner shaking like a leaf. Depression caused by biological problems is as real as cancer or heart disease, and till you experience it yourself you have no idea what you are talking about.
If you're "clinically depressed" it means you're not living the life you were meant to lead.
All drugs do is get rid of the symptoms, not the problem. I was "clinically depressed" for about 8 years. I feel like that part of my life was taken from me, like I was in prison.
You know how it stopped? I started living the life I was meant to lead.
