So I'm in Nebraska, and just recently they've been going on a new "mask mandate" in the schools. I'm a reporter (mostly sports) and have to cover basketball games. In the fall, most of the schools in the area didn't require masks--but almost all of them do.

So I'm wearing my stupid face diaper last night at the games--and by about 20 minutes in I'm starting to get a massive headache. So I go outside and take of my diaper, and almost immediately my headache goes away. Then I go back in, a few minutes later, the headache comes back.

So, I'm going to get a face diaper and cut out the fabric around the mouth and replace it with a very thin layer of breathable material. "But then it won't work"--don't care, it doesn't work anyway.

Anybody else try to do something like this so they can actually breathe? If so, please let me know how you did it and any tips you have...

Try this. Take an old hankerchief and fold it once corner to corner. When you tie it in the back, the front will craet a beak structure that appears to cover your mouth but sticks out an inch or 2 giving you plenty of breathing room. I had to roll the part that goes over my nose once to get the fabric in the right position. Looks like you're covered by you're getting full breath.

These old ones are about the right size for this depending on your head. I bought an antique one because it was super thin material.

Your CO2 re-intake is increased with a mask on.

Yeah, I know--I had to wear masks for work many many years ago--but now in my mid-50's? It really changes things. Many people simply don't have the oxygen/lung capacity that they did when they were young.

I freaking hate this shit, it's so aggravating. I get mad ("I'm literally shaking", lol) seeing people wear these fucking masks.

I purchased an airsoft mask. like this one It covers everything, but is made of fine mesh. No restriction to breathing whatsoever. I only wear it when absolutely forced to. It looks pretty silly (don't they all?), but no one has challenged me. I've actually got quite a few compliments on it.

Perhaps. But I don't want the questioning by people and bad looks because I'm the local reporter and everyone knows me. That's all I need--having to explain why I'm not wearing a mask and go into medical history, etc.

I'd rather just phony up a mask and avoid the nonsense.

Take the dang thing off. Tell them you have a condition. If they ask what your condition is, tell them 'freedom'. Do some research on your own. They don't work to protect you. They actually work to lower your immunity. It's clearly just a control mechanism. MAGA & KAG
