I know Wikipedia is most often a shit source, the article on the griffin states that they were known for guarding treasures and priceless possessions, the Constitution and election integrity are those things. It is said that Persians considered the griffin “a protector from evil, witchcraft and secret slander.”

I know it’s all mythological nonsense, but the coincidence is entertaining.
