The thing the Chinese are good at is also what they're terrible at: copying designs. They have 0 research and development costs because in order to get your slave labor products, you have to turn over your designs to the ccp.
The problem is that copying a design often means cutting corners in critical areas or areas they don't understand. It's why a lot of their tech LOOKS good, but has poor function or are missing critical components. Without quality control, it's a total gamble. That's why you get something that looks like a stolen f35 design but flies like a mig26.
