Military could stay on the sidelines, and probably would be best if they did. 1/6 is the absolute last chance for any other remedy before Don crosses that Rubicon, which is perfectly legal. Which, being foreign, starts to open up all sorts of legal possiblities involving the us military, and more important, the NSA/DIA apparatus.

Testimony before Congress in 2002 is that the voting machines in 2000 could flip any election 49 - 51 without leaving a trace. The only way anybody would ever find it is if every paper ballot were counted by hand.

We can't recount every paper ballot by hand, because so many have been destroyed. And many jurisdictions didn't allow paper ballots to begin with. Evidence of enough simple ballot stuffing to overturn the election would help, but so far every attempt at a recount has been illegitimate.
