Ronald Reagan was a true Conservative and did good things for America, his mistake was Bush, and he paid for that with a bullet in the chest

He lost a lot of his fizz after he got shot. He was 70. But he was an inspirational leader, and highly beloved president. His second term was no great shakes. He lost the senate and it made no sense except for corruption. They tried to impeach him through Iran-Contra. The senate denied Bork and we got Anthony Kennedy. Meese joined the feminists to go after pornography. Reagan raised the drinking age to 21 and helped MADD with their anti-drinking fanaticism. But he settled the Cold War, though the press largely quarantined the famous "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall," statement. He nuked the hated 55 mile and hour speed limit, a wonderful accomplishment.

His veep choice was between Bush and Ford. It was a terrible decision to have to make. Two completely awful men and true enemies of conservatism. Ford was on the Warren Commission and Bush was up to his neck in evil.

He was the first president I voted for as a young airman. He took down Russia and hated commie bitches. Never forget when he fired the air traffic controllers over a strike. He is the original fuck around and find out.

After a weak Carter presidency, he built our military to achieve peace through strength, and he restored our economy.

The wall came down, the hostages came home, and he fired the striking ATC's - good. He let the Gov't raid SS - bad. Overall decisive, funny, good orator, good guy.

I wasn’t alive when Reagan was around, so I only know “Reagan the Icon”. Reagan from what I hear and could see in my limited view was very charismatic and was known as “The Great Communicator”. I agree with a lot of what he did say. Reagan was quite anti-communist, as were many at the time even in Hollywood. I read the 70’s was a rough time for America with Vietnam, inflation, unemployment and Japan whooping Detroit on fuel efficient vehicles. His shocking optimism and fierce belief in american exceptionalism were, at least perceptually, what helped fix a broken country at the time. I don’t hear much on his policies. As Governor of California, Reagan signed into law the Therapeutic Abortion Act in May 1967. He would later say he regretted signing this bill. He played an important role in the fall of the Soviet Union. Many consider Iran-Contra to be a definite black mark on his administration. There’s also the War on Drugs, IDS Epidemic and trickle down economics that some like to bring up as well when discussing Reagan.
I think amongst us zoomers he’s most known for “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall" and slapping a bitch. https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=acPLo0MRN5M

I love Donald Trump.

Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of my 50 years. Trump is second but to be truthful a distant second at that. Not because he’s not good it’s just Reagan was that much better. It’s hard to describe what it was like while he was president I remember 1984 was the year the Olympics were in LA and Americans were PROUD to be American. Try to imagine a political figure that could win every state save for the home state of his challenger. If you aren’t old enough to remember I can’t begin to describe what he meant to most of us.

Watch his Challenger disaster speech and you WILL cry.

They say you can’t understand how impactful the time you live in until it’s long past. But try to imagine three world leaders as impactful as Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John Paul all on the world stage at the same time and all stood together to defeat the USSR when the Russians were REALLY the bad guys.

When Trump says MAGA I think of Ronald Reagan.

RIP President Reagan.
