Look at Australia. In 2007 we voted in a left leaning government that went straight for the promises of China. Kevin Rudd practically deep throated them and kept bragging that he spoke mandarin and would do a great deal.

Now Australia's main trading partner is China and they currently have us by the short and curlies.

I've always wondered why Mega Corps love left leaning politicians and Covid gave me that answer. Walk into a Mega Corps "Essential" business and everything feels like normal aside from having to wear the masks. Many of the Mega Corp stores near me pretty much dropped all the Covid-19 restrictions (Except for masks) and operate like normal now. They're jam packed during prime time and no one gives a shit, Meanwhile strict enforcement still applies to small businesses..
