-200 vote sample with an even split (100 for biden 100 for Trump).
-On election night this would look like 113 votes for Biden, and 87 votes for Trump.
-If the machine gets audited before the algorithm reverts, then the machine would give the same numbers
-If the machine is audited after it reverts then that exact same sample indicates the true split
I think this is why there's such a strong effort to wipe machines. There's still an argument they could make that Biden won, and Trump strong armed his way to victory if the machines lose all the data. But, they're not being very convincing, considering they'd be breaking federal law.
They'll still keep an accurate clock time most likely. So when they run their forensic tests, the machines should be able to hide anything they need to hide.

I’ve seen some of the algorithm - not that I analyzed it at all but I can’t understand why one is even needed. Votes are a simple tally: an integer variable for total per candidate and a summation loop. Sure, it’s a bit more than this, but this is the foundation...the needless complexity makes me think something is being hidden OR they were trying to justify the insane prices for the machine and software.

They used the same tabulators and reported what they spit out again. Nobody in a recount compares tabulation results to paper verified ballots. They compare the retabulated results to the previous ones. This is why the Trump team wants audits, not recounts. Verifying signatures is one way to force a paper audit.

They had at least a week before the recount to create more fake ballots to "recount."
Also, the batches/bins were labeled with the totals from election day. Pretty easy to pretend to count and then just write the original number on the recount sheet. Several witnesses who were supposed to be observers for the recount state they were not allowed in or saw many people not following the proper procedures (only 1 dem counting stacks of ballots rather than team of rep and dem counting together out loud, etc.) They also only allowed 1 republican to observe for every 10 tables. Same shennanigans that happened on election day counting.
They did find an algorithm but the percentage was .26% not 26%.
