That's actually something that we can do. Simply whining that 'omigerd, they wanna be gawd!' is not enough.

That is technically we were planning back in the damned 60s and 70s here in the USA. It allows for solar stations to maintain power even during night. Allows for crops to grow 24 hours a day. Allows for modest city lighting so that less electricity is wasted on putting up more and more lamps and tons of other options.

We should fear this stuff. We need to embrace it.

The correct response is the response we USED to have - for Americans to be the first ones and not the Chinese or Russians.

Uhhh. no.

Plants need a resting phase. So do animals. 24hrs of light will stop many plants from flowering.

Not all plants. I did research into horticulture during school and that included 24 hour growth cycles, as well the popular hydroponics at the time.

In Alaska, you have prime example of certain producers that grow to extreme sizes due to the constant sunlight in the Summer.

During my hydroponics tests, production yields were insane as we had it on a 24 hour cycle. Reproducing new batches was also easy too via splicing.

You can still get results, especially with GMOs designed to increase growth.

A buddy of mine and I also had setups for over 120 strains of medical marijuana which were stimulated for a full 24 hours.

Some plant due indeed keep going so long as the needed radiation is available.

I’m not convinced we humans are smart enough to know better than God the ideal lighting requirements for Earth.

Never mind plant cycle issues, though you make some good observations, but look at the issues with light pollution and the effects on birds for example.

That’s not going to happen, they’ve said that for 10 years or more but China says lots of dumb shit. People just are now paying attention to it.

It's a dew weapon simply by mass focusing sun light to a specific spot.

The Russians were going to do something like this in the late 90s. I think the ruble collapsed at that time and the project was scrapped but I honestly don't know.
