Similar story for our family. Previous church immediately surrendered to covid rules. No push back. Not even trying. Started going to a church that actually meets and cares. Much better.
I tried to go to a church in person a couple months ago and they had people at the entrances saying you had to have a reservation to attend in person. I asked them "Would Jesus have had required reservations for his sermon on the mount?" and they let me in.

Funny. My reply was always, "I guess salvation can wait" I haven't had to use it yet though.
