Nahh I don’t think so. As a smoker, you don’t pass a lighter like that. You don’t pass anything like that unless you’re hiding it. If they’re hiding the fact that they’re smoking, they could have waited until they got outside (or until they walked far enough out of view of whoever they were hiding it from) to hand over the lighter. It wouldn’t make sense to do it right there, in an area where you have to keep it hidden, when you’re already on your walk over to “safe” territory.

I have lived half a century in the US and have never heard of this before. I get annual physicals where a doctor looks in my ears and never sees anything bad. Granted, I no longer work manual labor jobs daily and don't live in a jungle so maybe your particular environment causes your ears to become more dirty than mine. What kind of doctor or "professional" does your deep ear clean each decade?

I’m a musician on vacation, and I’ve been working on a new song in my home studio eight hours a day for a week. I should be able to make a track with this audio and clean it up some in Pro Tools with a de-esser and the right equalizer. What troubles me -from the same standpoint- is that it already came through so clear with background noise. If you couldn’t hear the rest of the conversation at all, why would she say “Probably gonna get caught.” loud enough to hear it over the machine hums? I’ll go see what I can do with this in my studio.

It really shouldn’t be complicated. Either the de-esser and equalizer will make the audio clear or it won’t. Might be hard to make out some of the words if they’re said at the same frequencies as the humming in the background. Should be five minutes of working with it when I go to work on my music in a minute. It’ll take another second to put the processed audio back over the video. I’ll make a post, and I’ll share that link to it in another comment here so you don’t have to dig for it.
I think it's because the microphone is more narrow than we're expecting, because of the background noise, but when she speaks her face is pointing more in the direction of the camera than earlier.
