Right!! I think that the A1 variant was a good improvement using a 20 round magazine and they used them into the early Vietnam. I think the government thought the rifle was too heavy and when they figured that maiming an enemy was more effective than killing him because you took more people out of the fight they went with the 5.56 and they did like Gene Stoner's design.
