I'm on board with the Fair Tax idea but I would take it a step further. Let's not tax income or productivity but instead tax consumption. This would include tariffs and sales taxes. Want a luxury car? Pay a luxury tax for it. Want a yacht? Same thing. The majority of the tax code would disappear.
That's what the fair tax is. A consumption tax. You only pay taxes when you buy something. And if you make below the poverty line then you are reimbursed monthly.
Although printing money as a solution is a lethal one, given sufficient time. Even if you paid after the money was printed, the damage would have been done because the dollars you give them are worth a smaller amount with a larger money supply in existence.
There's even a way to not pay them but pay them anyway, though it is complicated. Businesses can put their taxes into I think an escrow and confirm to the IRS that the tax revenue is there but is being reviewed for a variety of purposes, but I'm not sure how long they can hold the transfer off before a legal challenge would cause the final transfer. If you had enough of them though, it would cause the federal government problems due to limited manpower.
