Agreed. I have a family member who is a doctor and effectively acts like a God. You can't have ANY conversation with him without him bringing up he is a doctor, and using his degree as proof that he is right.

Any advice on how to deal with this? I love him but he is so deep in indoctrination I feel sometimes he is beyond help.

That explains a lot. Probably bullied a lot with his ego beaten down, so now he's latching onto being a doctor as some sort of Superman/God status that makes him King Shit(tm).

I'm not sure how to enlighten someone like that, to get past their ego defenses and get them to really see the light, and get them to see how much of a douche they look like to everyone else.

I'm not a shrink, so I don't know what to tell you.
