239 🚨🚨🚨 #BREAKING No special session for the Georgia General Assembly. Governor @BrianKempGA says it would be unconstitutional to appoint Trump electors, “doing this in order to select a separate slate of presidential electors is not an option that is allowed under state or federal law.” (media.patriots.win) posted 130 days ago by Sa1tyBastard 130 days ago by Sa1tyBastard +239 / -0 38 comments share 38 comments share save hide report block hide child comments Comments (38) sorted by: top new old worst You're viewing a single comment thread. Please don't tell me it's the majority of each chamber of the legislature permalink save report block reply ▲ 3 ▼ – 45semiautosp 3 points 130 days ago +3 / -0 They need 108 (3/5's) but there are only 105 republicans. Jones the Dem would add 1 more. still short by 2 if every republican wants to convene. the R's have majorities in both chambers. But not enough to reach 3/5's in the house. permalink parent save report block reply ▲ 1 ▼ – Italians_Invented_2A 1 point 130 days ago +1 / -0 Oh no. Does that mean we're fucked? Also, why didn't they vote on this before the session closed? Makes me think they really didn't want to do it permalink parent save report block reply ▲ 1 ▼ – 45semiautosp 1 point 130 days ago +1 / -0 that 3/5's rule is the requirement for a special session, without needing Kemp to call for one. I still think the legislature has a say on whether to accept the democrat electors seated by Kemp. Looking for that now. permalink parent save report block reply ▲ 2 ▼ – Italians_Invented_2A 2 points 130 days ago +2 / -0 According to the Constitution it's the legislature that nominates the electors. Have they "delegated" the responsibility to the Secretary of State? Or does the legislature still need to vote on it? Or they don't need to vote but they can oppose it? permalink parent save report block reply
