A better illustration of what you're saying is iguanodon. When first reconstructed in the early 1800s, they stuck its thumb on its nose and thought it looked like a giant iguana. With more complete fossils, they stood them up and then later stooped them down.
The take home of all this is that you should never trust a scientist.
Well still, the point remains. That was found less than a month ago, and they have been saying they know what it looks like for decades
Oh. guess I missed that. Still they've been saying what it looked like for 70 years
But were they right? Because if they were then clearly whatever method they used to predict what it looked like was legitimate.
