i wouldn't really think there's a way around it either: if you rate limit searches per address, there's still state kept on the server and that becomes the attack vector
they could charge $ for searches, but that opens up a whole different can of worms

This comes up no less than a dozen times a day.
Yeah, I would have searched to find out but....well, you know where I’m going with this.
it would not help you to have the search function re-enabled.
If it was active, the site itself would be down more than up.
IT IS A SECURITY ISSUE. WHY DON'T YOU LEARN TO USE THE INTERNET, IT'S ONLY BEEN 20 YEARS +.
