At some point - I fear people are going to start dragging these people into the streets and beating them to death, or simply grabbing them, taking them to a field, executing them, and burying the body.
They're misreading how angry people are - and simply saying "why uphold the law when it won't change the outcome IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE PEOPLE."
All that attitude does is encourage lawlessness and throws gasoline on a citizenry who feel the law doesn't matter any more and no one will stand up for them.
Judges like this are going to back people into a corner and they're going to explode in violent rage.
