What the fuck? I fucking hate word salads. So much harder to digest.

The first part of 2020 definition is true but I guess truth is now "racism". And the second part is just ideological. Of course they list white supremacy, but what about black supremacy, or literally any other supremacist ideology. Nah, they gotta hate on whitey.

21
Scroon 21 points ago +21 / -0

The first definition IS ABSOLUTELY NOT true. I cannot stress that enough.

From its first use, "racism" meant the practice of discriminating based on race. If you thought some races were better than others, that was not racism. It was just your opinion.

The "evil of racism" is when employers wouldn't hire you despite your qualifications only because you were black, or you weren't allowed to enter a certain establishment because you were oriental, or you couldn't marry someone because if differing race.

Racism is about practice. It is not about personal opinion.

I have a 100 year old dictionary. The word racism didn’t exist

19
walls4america 19 points ago +19 / -0

I have an 1892 Webster’s dictionary and a set of 1924 Compton’s Encyclopedias. Couldn’t find racism in those either. And the only definition I could find for “gay” means cheerful or frolicsome.

8
gaijin_ronin 8 points ago +8 / -0

The Flintstones - "We'll have a gay old time!"

5
walls4america 5 points ago +5 / -0

And don’t forget the song “Am I Blue?” (...was I gay until today...)

I only remember the Rita Coolidge version, but I see Billie Holiday and also Ray Charles had recorded this song.

And don’t forget Deck the Halls (gay apparel)

“1892 Webster’s Dictionary”...every patriot should own a copy of this, it is a thing of beauty. Hands down the best copy one can get (regarding binding/paper quality and text clarity) is the facsimile edition published by “Foundation For American Christian Education”.

Neither is schizophrenia. Homosexual is in there but it’s with those quickie bottom margin words and it says something like a detestable disorder of some kind

1
LittleGlowingFriend 1 point ago +1 / -0

1913 Webster has as its third sense "Loose; dissipated; lewd. [Colloq.]" This is referring to how it was a euphemism for (straight) sexual promiscuity at the time. Not too hard to guess how the code evolved.

Dictionaries used to try keeping the vulgar tongue out of them where possible (and most printers did, too, so they might have had trouble keeping adequate citations around anyway). Webster 1913 isn't really an exception--the same dictionary doesn't list some very well known four-letter Anglo-Saxonisms and minced oaths. (Nor does Dr. Johnson's, who despite his misgivings about the USA, is of great service when we talk about the language of the Founding Fathers, the Constitution, and Bill of Rights.)

1828 Webster's: http://webstersdictionary1828.com/Dictionary/Race

RACE, noun [Latin radix and radius having the same original. This word coincides in origin with rod, ray, radiate, etc.]

  1. The lineage of a family, or continued series of descendants from a parent who is called the stock. A race is the series of descendants indefinitely. Thus all mankind are called the race of Adam; the Israelites are of the race of Abraham and Jacob. Thus we speak of a race of kings, the race of Clovis or Charlemagne; a race of nobles, etc.

They're not decimating the language. And saying so is literally a conspiracy.

0
TakenusernameA 0 points ago +1 / -1

Even the 1982 definition is incorrect. The actual definition is: "the belief that ones own race is inherently superior to others". Racism is a belief, not an action. You cannot be "racist against" something. The proper term for believing that a specific race is inferior is called "racialism".

Very good post. I love collecting old books that detail the times it was written. Sort of like almanacs.

Have a good one from 1948 that has maps, population statistics, US and European history with a focus on most recent and even common dream interpretations.

How do you go about it? I've been considering searching online, but nothing compares to doing a day or couple day trip across some states and going antiquing. Titles and books that you never would have thought of just jump out at you.

I was in Glasgow Scotland at one point and found myself in a basement old/used bookstore that was packed with books. Very old print dates with interesting subjects for low prices. Like I got an old nonfiction book on the Black Watch (Scottish troop) print date late 1890's for $3. Great read.

Only had a backpack though and had to fly back to the states eventually so had to limit myself to 3 or 4 good acquisitions lol

5
fsoawesome 5 points ago +5 / -0

Too recent, you need pre-WW2 and even pre-WW1 if you can.

4
citizenmoon 4 points ago +4 / -0

So judgmental ;) But I do agree, if I can get interesting books with pre-1900's print dates I hop on it.

Having almanac type books from many different times is interesting all the same. I've just liked to hit up some antique shops specifically for books if I travel to places for whatever reason. Then bars haha.

4
fsoawesome 4 points ago +4 / -0

I don't disagree, I think it's simply important to not mince words or meaning in such a crazy time. As long as you weight books pre these dates then you're good on the "truth factor" of the material. Sadly material loses its truthiness very rapidly after these time markers. Partially this is due to moving away from prime sources while it is also simply a fact that the media was conglomerated under communists and communist precursors starting in the 1880s, kicked into 3rd gear during the 1910s and then overdrive post 1930.

We should try to get a sharing "book club" together.

2
citizenmoon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Haha I got two different responses to my inbox yet same-ish content. Edit or double post?

"We should try to get a sharing book club together" Totally, having a book dom-win (or whatever they will call them) with a SPECIFIC anti-leftist bias will be great.

The types who just make reading/books/etc their whole lives tend to be liberal and shit up communities because they have nothing better to do and just want to act better/more knowledgeable than everyone.

4

Crazy, server hung for over a minute when I posted and I had to post again..... at least I thought.

Yes, you are 100% right. There is an allure to humanism-intellectualism to a certain type that prefer luciferian based doctrine founded on the principles of old Babylon that is very much still alive.

2
citizenmoon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Double posting happened again, or at least double post in the notifications haha

Word, I've only started touching philosophical stuff within the past couple years so can't say on the doctrines/principals. I'm going through Prometheus Rising right now (reading online, didn't buy a book) which seems pretty leftist and has mentioned luciferian/babylon. Somewhat interesting all the same.

Yes, have your own collection - physical copies that can't be changed - of things like the Constitution, important papers written by the Founding Fathers, good history/civics books especially if you have kids, dictionary, encyclopedias.

Remember that the leftists have every crazy goon in the country at their beck and call. They called off most of the rioting and protesting for now, but when things don't go their way, they'll be back. They've been practicing, live fire, all summer, they burn things, throw explosives, shoot people, use lasers. They have no problem targeting women and children. Every one of us should be preparing, stock up your pantry, get yourselves in shape, have some books for your children. Most teachers are all in with brainwashing them, and even sneakily using your kids to find out what's going on in your house or what you think.

They won't just slink away, they'll double down and refuse to admit they're wrong while they send in their mobs.

Like 1800's definition of ethnic: Pagan.

And that word derives from 'country bumpkin'.

That's it: since the foreign xtianity slave mindset was imported first to city people, 'those country folks' were uneducated - unschooled.

It's identical to purple-haired daughters today, with a social justice degree, pointing at the less extreme and better grounded.

Not far enough back. You need to go Pre-WWII. That's where the trouble really started. The end of WWII ushered in the USA (and USA based publishing houses) as a global hegemony.

5
TheBigCanadianValley 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'm working on it, but the Second International (the one with "dord" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) is a beautiful tome with marbled endpapers and sides, and usually sells for a bit. At the least, the Third goes back to 1961, before much damage was done I would think, and it has an appendix for the "new" words.

Gather up anything pre-WW2 and ESPECIALLY get anything pre-WW1 that you can find. ANYTHING. Even reference books of all sorts.

The first edition of Encyclopaedia Judaica is extremely valuable and offers tremendous reference value to books that you should try to find for primary source material. There are other such enclopaediae as well that are really amazing that you can dig up if you begin looking into which books and such references were used to craft that. It is arguable that Jewish vaults have the most important information left that is being rapidly hidden.

Did you know SO many people use the word "literally" incorrectly that they decided to just add a secondary definition to account for that?

adverb:

  • in a literal manner or sense; exactly.

informal:

  • used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true.
