I respectfully disagree with that. The New Testament is much easier to understand with knowledge of the Old Testament. Jesus references Noah, Jonah, David, and Moses in his teachings. Paul references Jacob and Esau. Peter talks about Adam and Eve. The NT books repeatedly refer to and quote the OT prophets. If only for the genealogies in Matthew and Luke, we need to have the Old Testament.
There's only two Texts that need to be preserved. The new testament and the constitution.
In fact, you could narrow it down to just the 4 Gospel, both Corinthians, and Revelations, plus the constitution, and you'd be set.
