A hero. I wish his family well. Thank you for what you did for our Country. You are a warrior. There is no higher honor than being a warrior. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. God bless you, Staff Sergeant Cashe.
Serious question - are these people's families taken care of after his passing? Or are there groups that do so? Or do we need to set stuff up to help them?
If you get it while you're still alive you get an extra pension (on top of any other pensions you might have earned) of around $1,500 per month plus 10% increase in retired pay.
However, I'm not sure if your family cashes the checks in perpetuity if you're awarded the MOH posthumously.
There's also a laundry list of perks besides the cash, but, again, I don't know if your family gets all of them if you're dead.
Perks include invitation to all presidential inaugurations, free travel anywhere in the world, a special license plate for your car, and you get saluted first by any and all members of the military akin to you being the President, even if you're a Private. However, to get saluted first you must be wearing it, or else the other servicemen won't know they have to do this.
You're also buried at Arlington if you want, and there's a slot beside you reserved for your spouse.
Are you fucking kidding me? Your first two links are for NPR (democracy now) Amy Goodman. Then a Phil Donahue story? For real? What kind of bullshit are you trying to spread?
As a veteran who has been going through the VA hospital for 30+ years I can promise you both those links are full of shit. They're making it sound like the VA is handing out pain killers like tic tacs. In the real world it's very difficult to get real pain killers. I've had several surgeries through the VA and unless you're hospitalized it's unlikely you're getting anything much stronger than Tramadol. Has it happened? Without a doubt. Does it happen frequently? Hell no. Fuck Amy Goodman and double fuck NPR!
The VA is a socialist mess and a failure to veterans and anyone who pays attention and knows the healthcare costs to the soldiers of past wars(and how 100,000s of them lacked(at least before ACA) decent healthcare) knows this
As the VA is very corrupt I suspect you are very lucky(compared to others, especially those who have terrible stories about their VA treatment) or you had a relatively decent rank so that they want to take of you
I know NFL is looked down upon here but I first heard about this guy thanks to based Alejandro Villaneuva (Offensive Line for the Pittsburgh Steelers and former Army Ranger) putting Cashe's name on his helmet. It became a big story because everyone else was told to have some other name of a black kid who was killed in police violence. But the kid was a criminal and running away from the cops when the unfortunate incident happen. The mother of the kid was complaining about what Villanueva did demanded he be reprimanded and fined.
American soliders are the toughest motherfuckers on the planet, you think people in these 3rd world shit holes would go back to save their dying brothers? I would ask the same of other 1st world countries but we account for 99% of their defense so the question wouldnt even make sense.
But the media told me OrangeManBad is RAYCIS. How can this be?
Orange Man obviously sucks at being racist. Seriously though, good that this brave soldier got the recognition he so much deserved, giving his life for his compatriots and his country.
That was nice! Alwyn deserves that medal and I thank your family for you!
Long over due!! But I am happy he will finally be recognized.

I wonder what the missing info was that prevented Bush Jr and Obama doing this. 15 years later?
They were waiting to see if he was black or not.
One of the Steelers wore this guys name on his helmet instead of the gangbanger's name the rest of the team was "honoring".
Alejandro Villanueva. Former Army Ranger, and the only NFL player to have served in combat.
I searched him up just for fun, and the article that came up was that he doubled his salary based on performance. This guy is a natural born winner.

I won't even bother arguing this...

You're a socialist and a failure to veterans. It's good you won't even bother arguing something you don't know anything about.
A hero patriot. Way long overdue
Thank you for your service, brother.
A true patriot... we love you!

Dubya should be ashamed not to have honored him with the Medal.

Of course he did. Because it's the Patriot thing to do.
This is what a Patriot Hero looks like

Leftists expect us to just rollover and get butt fucked. We should just accept defeat and dishonor all that died for us, like this man.
No surrender, no quarter, no brakes...
