This reminds me of the dumb starbucks Nathan for you episode or the one where he keeps his bar open for 24 hours by screening it as a play. I think this would work legally

Nathan Fielder has been training his whole life for this moment

You have to prove to a court that you have a history of making films perhaps and that your film had intention to reach an audience with the type of theatrical presentation that normal movies have.

See this type of shit i don't understand, If I wanted to pretend I'm filming a movie, thennnn I should be able to, pursuit of happiness, no?

1
ClintonCovfefe 1 point ago +1 / -0

But in a court you have to argue that you're actually making a movie- it has to be believable to a jury. One way to sway the jury, I'd say, is to have an established history of movies... or some sort of legitimate publishing of this movie to count as a movie. It needs to really be a movie, in other words. How you get about that can be a creative endeavor

3
alanlovestea 3 points ago +3 / -0

I have a youtube channel with 50 subscribers. Does that count?

ClintonCovfefe 1 point ago +1 / -0

If your channel has a history of posting movies/a reputation that can be perceived by a general public as posting movies then that would count. 50 subscribers probably not

ClintonCovfefe 1 point ago +1 / -0

That would probably hold up in a court to some degree.. Im not a lawyer but i'm just thinking from the perspective of a jury

1
RabidZoo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Documentary maybe?

7
D0ntdrugtest [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

I just watched it 🤣

3
ClintonCovfefe 3 points ago +3 / -0

that whole show is really good comedy i dont watch much tv but i laugh my ass off at every episode i think he's a genius

1
Buce-Nudo 1 point ago +1 / -0

The price match and gas rebate episodes are also great.

1
jubyeonin 1 point ago +2 / -1

We need crowdfund him to stay in California so we can do this.

20
Orangemaninyoazz 20 points ago +20 / -0

I know it's bullshit. I'm in film and they still allow shooting but no restaurants. I proceeded to quit mid season and giving up a large amount of my salary. Felt so damn good. I will not be on tv anymore.

7
ikuyas 7 points ago +7 / -0

well, start your own

2
EagleI 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hell yeah, I'd love to support more indie creators who aren't flaming liberals.

He's on TheDonald right now my guy :P

17
MAGA_____bitches 17 points ago +17 / -0

it's hard to film a movie when people are screaming "black lives matter" through a megaphone.. Let's get 'em

6
UnderCoverTrumper 6 points ago +6 / -0

this is smart.

Form an LLC in CA and film yourselves eating.

13
infowarlord 13 points ago +13 / -0

If the cops show up, just keep telling them “quiet on the set, please!” “And, Action!” (Everyone resumes eating)

5
CA-Patriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

HAHAHA this is brilliant!

1
MAGA_Flocka_Flame 1 point ago +1 / -0

“Magnolian Mukbangs scene 3 and… action!”

13
Marble68 13 points ago +13 / -0

This is fucking genius.

Get restaurants to put a camera and just film the inside - with a sign explaining they're shooting b roll to sell - and the dining area is officially a movie set.

Have waitresses hand out a waiver.

FreeNow 9 points ago +9 / -0

Eating out normally. Promote it as a fantasy film.

schiff_for_brains 10 points ago +10 / -0

Let’s find some gubmint gimmees for film production and use that to cover the tab!

6
D0ntdrugtest [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

It’s a documentary on Blm 🤣 so the big companies throw in cash for it. And use that money to buy out the Restaurants and bars each night.

8
BetterLateThanNever 8 points ago +8 / -0

If anyone asks you where the cameras are, tell them it's a hidden camera reality show.

5
ethan123 5 points ago +5 / -0

If https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint_Drying is a thing, this can be too

3
jubyeonin 3 points ago +4 / -1

Avant garde. The food is free, but you must buy a shirt that says "FUCK NEWSOM" and wear it while being filmed.

5
keepituryens 5 points ago +5 / -0

Of course they need to keep on filming. What the fuck else are the zombies to consume?!?!

4
ikuyas 4 points ago +4 / -0

You can act eating.

Scroon 3 points ago +3 / -0

Just FYI, as far as I know, SAG (union) productions have been requiring COVID tests for all on set talent and crew. Don't know about indie productions. It's bullshit because they're basically leading the way for mandatory vaccines.

2
D0ntdrugtest [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well lucky for us it’s a high budget blm doc and covid tests are racist. 🤣

2
Tenspot20 2 points ago +2 / -0

The film industry is John McCain now.

2
Paperbagpatriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Just tell them you have to go out to restaurants to plan your BLM riots. They let those go on during lockdowns.

2
entwickelnden 2 points ago +2 / -0

call it shanagans

2
Voltage 2 points ago +2 / -0

Its the production company you need to start. The filming is a side note. You will need to film production company to secure the permits.

Can we just start making films in other places besides that cesspool? I mean hell they already make movies all over the US. Who said they get to have the final say on what gets made? We need some rich pedes to make some movies. It doesn't have to be preachy..it just has to be good. How many of you have watched any of the new trash that comes out? Not me. Even when I stream I watch the classics. I watch Terminator, Terminator 2. I watch Predator because I love Jessie I'm that movie. I watch the original Ghostbusters. Any movie made after 2010 is usually complete crap.

Wheresthebeerf 1 point ago +1 / -0

Funny how useless media is considered essential cause of who owns all the studios....

1
VilanceD 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh just put up signs at the entrance to the restaurant requiring signature to use your likeness as an extra :D

1
markolbb 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you came up with this idea on your own, you're a genius. Well done, good sir.

1
D0ntdrugtest [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

No it’s Nathan fielder’s show idea. Just now applied to covid restrictions 👍 damn time travelers
