Doesn’t matter if it’s AM or FM, I listen to what’s considered conservative radio and every break I have to listen to ABC. Maybe should stream something. One of my cars is antique. Only has AM. Considering an upgrade. Seen some people online that can add Bluetooth and auxiliary inputs to old radios. Even FM I think. No interest in changing to a newer radio. Ruins the look. Not slicing up the dash. I’m sick of hearing ABC. That’s some fake news. I’m betting I can stream Rush or something else. With a radio upgrade in my old car. Other 2 have capabilities for a phone. If anyone has ever had an old AM radio upgraded... any advice or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

Never upgraded an old am radio, but something you might consider doing is spending 20-30 bucks on a decent bluetooth speaker, and mount that to the car somewhere. Could be out of sight if you want to keep the aesthetics.

But yeah I'd say it's time to ditch legacy media. Quality of programming is terrible, and it's a complete waste of time too with all the ads. Find yourself a good podcast lineup and play them through your bluetooth speaker.

I did get a couple of low key looking Bluetooth speakers a while back. They sounded better than the one center dash speaker in the car. It was always a pain every time I had the car down for a bit to link it all back up. The one speaker in fine with windows up. I wouldn’t mind a Bluetooth to have all 3. Dont really want to cut holes. The holes are there behind the panels. At least on the back. It’s funny because I was that butthole in high school With giant woofers. Now I hate all that stuff. Other than wider wheels and tires around 15-16 inch I like it all kind of original. Also disc brakes and electronic ignition. I like my boring looking AM. So sick of MSM though. Hate new music too so FM hasn’t mattered in ages.

i had an old 86 c10 chevy with the dual knobs. am/fm only. i found replacement stereos you could buy that fit the old funky dimensions and look stock. so you dont have some led laser light show playing on your dashboard like modern units.

do a google search for "retrosound laguna" and you might be able to find something to fit your ride.

I’ve seen some of those. Mine might be a little harder to fit than that but not too much. That was around the area we started seeing some aftermarket stuff. I can probably read up. Do a auxiliary port myself. I suck at soldiering though. I’m not bad with stuff like that in general. I should just learn to soldier. Then I should learn to weld because I suck at that too! If I didn’t have a grinder I’d be embarrassed to show anyone anything I’ve ever welded. I still don’t. I just let them in the room with it.

You don't need to use your car's built in sound system.

24 hours of play time. I just carry it out to the car with me.

Connect to your phone and play podcasts, audio books, or stream radio.

I have the opposite problem. I want to listen to Rush, but my car has no AM radio, only FM/Sat

No no. I want my original.

You don't need to change your car at all, though. Just put the bluetooth speaker on the seat next to you.
