There's a lot of fuss over stuff because too many people just want to be right - and they also can't acknowledge when they have a knowledge gap and are mortally afraid of speaking the horrifying phrase of "I don't know".
Most of those arguments can very easily be shut down because there is almost no Biblical basis to the overwhelming majority of them, especially since most people don't stop and think about how the scripture is written, and what the impact of the writing style has upon properly interpreting the Scripture in addition to the context of what was going on when the Scripture was written.
