Too many californians in Texas. Kick them out first and we might have a chance.

There's not enough of them. When and if the news of a Texas secession was released, conservatives from all over America will move here to take part. Hell, we'll even turn Austin red.

Good luck with Austin. That city is done for.

783hz [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

If you think the influx of Californians into Austin has been substantial, if Texas pushed for secession the influx of freedom loving people would dwarf it.

I would move. Other states would join

I hope that would be the case but is Austin that much more desirable place to live than say, Port Aransas or anywhere near Dallas?

Austin is a pretty humid city with bad traffic, high expenses and terrible city management (thanks to californians). Better than Houston and San Antonio for sure but only because Austin is relatively newer in popularity.

A lot of road infrastructure is messed up in Austin. City also squandered money and opportunities on selling their old airfield. Taxes are through the roof and spent on frivolous things such as SXSW. Homeless people get to camp everywhere except town hall. Homeless dudes rape and murder local college girls. College people think they're hot shit and crash into local eateries. And at least 20% of the local Austinites act like Beto.

I grew up in Austin. I'm still here. I've seen what's happened to this once great town. But I'm talking about a paradigm shift here. If our legislature pursued secession, Texas would have a million new conservative residents in 6 months, ready to help vote for passage. Adler and his homeless camping ordinance would be out on his ass.

2
KeepCoom 2 points ago +2 / -0

I sure hope so. When Trump wins, I hope Adler gets his ass kicked out and someore stricter homeless policy and housing restrictions are put into place.

I lived in Austin for quite some time as well. There used to be homeless people that were endearing to the community and I still think many of them are just down on their luck. But Adler is just pushing his luck with allowing homeless from out of state set up camp in Austin

No, Austin isn't any better. The draw of Austin is it's culture, originally based around it's college and the music and parties it attracted. Today it's still a fairly progressive town based around youth culture. If you want to live in the hillcountry of Texas, there are many other cities with the same geography, but more livable environments.

I totally agree with the statement and the sentiment. But less likely you'll find a career with good money in it.

Take the Llano for example. Beautiful place. Lack of high tech or financial jobs and careers.

1
beatnik 1 point ago +1 / -0

Maybe, but there is a greater concentration of millionaires in Lampasas than Austin proper. High tech jobs aren't the only way to make a living, and in many cases it's a horrible job in a cubicle.

So sad. Austin, Houston, and Dallas are done for. San Antonio is on its way as well.

2
KeepCoom 2 points ago +2 / -0

San Antonio is already a shit show. Texas has plenty of nice places such as Fredericksburg but they are mostly small-town USA.

How is the Tyler area these days?

2
KeepCoom 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'll be honest, I don't know. But it's always been a decent small city in my memories.

Perhaps you might know better than me. I'm more familiar with the big cities because of the jobs and money. And the smaller towns because if I'm vacationing, I heading to places like Port Aransas, not Waco.

Vermin 2 points ago +2 / -0

I am in NC, but lived about 35 miles from Tyler.
(Lived in four places in Texas. Granbury, Blessing, Odessa, & finally Athens.) Tyler was our nearest "mall" area.
Tyler is small compared to a lot of other Texas cities, but probably about as close to a big city size as I would want to be at in Texas.
Sounds like Dallas has somewhat fallen left.
Absolutely heartbreaking to see lefty people coming into the state. Destroying it. Spreading their lefty cancer.

Have heard Fredericksburg has gone to shit too. Haven't been there is almost 20 years (same for Houston), but everyone says we will not recognize it anymore. Haven't been to Austin in 8 years, but my buddy sent pics of all the homeless people all over the state capitol. Abbot passed that bill so they could no longer be there, and all the homeless moved to Travis lake. Buddy said he cannot go anymore. It smells like a sewage plant when you drive in now, he said.

When we retire, we are moving to Shiner or somewhere like that. 1 horse town.

Francita? ;)

Never been to Paris, TX, but it seems like a really nice place. We are down here on the river where the only seasons we have are HOT and HOTTER. We want to move north, but are definitely staying in Texas!!

If Texas became the Alamo for freedom we'd have a million more Davy Crocketts living here in 6 months. None of those cities are done in that scenario.

2
empiretc 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agreed. Patriots would flock here and restore dignity.

Can Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida panhandle (also known as Lower Alabama) join the new Texas Federation?

2
Overmann 2 points ago +2 / -0

Can everyone outside of Atlanuh also join? We'd vote for it, but it wouldn't count.

2
783hz [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I like it. Contiguous, and more coastal control. That Louisiana offshore oil and gas would be much appreciated.

Oklahoma seems to be pretty damn red, have them join along too

If Biden steals this, I truly hope Texas does secede. The US no longer exists at that point anyway

3
pants4sasquatch 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes! Do it! But first, kick the wacky liberals out

3
783hz [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

They'll want to leave on their own.

pants4sasquatch 1 point ago +1 / -0

If CA, Oregon, and Washington seceded they would all move back

1
CovfefeNegro 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah they will, if they have any ability to ponder reality they sure will.

Texas seceded with the Confederacy, and that's our only history on the subject. We do not have the special legal right to secede, as some might want to believe. But that doesn't matter. It wouldn't need to be legal. If this election is stolen, the rule of law would be dead in America.

1
CovfefeNegro 1 point ago +1 / -0

Allegedly our State Legislature never properly ratified the papers on us joining the Union back when. People like to claim that gives us room to secede, but it wouldn't hold water.

Does not matter... if the United States fails, if the double damned corrupt government refuses to honor their Oaths and the Legislatures and Courts fail to honor Constitutional Law, then the Rule of Law is dead.

Under those circumstances we would not be seceding, we would be restoring the Rule of Law. The civil war was mostly caused by the Federal government refusing to honor States' Rights..... that is part of what Texas sued about today. It wouldn't be Texas leaving the Union, the Union would be leaving Texas, because we are gonna insist on the Rule of Law. God's Law, which is where our Constitution comes from.
