Maybe Ken should be your next governor.

I absolutely hated Rick Perry. In state tuition for illegal aliens? Why the fuck are illegal aliens at a state funded university to begin with? They should have been grabbed up from their dorm rooms and deported, not given free shit.

Having said that, Abbott didn't do anything to change that, and Abbott has been responsible for untold Texas businesses failing and untold workers losing their jobs with his bullshit edicts. I'm thankful he finally figured out that was a bad idea, but we're still suffering under a statewide mask mandate for indoor businesses.

I was OK with Abbott before this year, but this year has really exposed a bunch of folks. Will definitely vote to primary.

Yup, Perry is a democrat that simply changed his party affiliation. Even said so himself, yet aaaaalllllll the Texas conservatives voted for him.

I thought the toll road you're talking about was funded by Cintra, a Spanish company?

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/spanish-company-signs-50-year-for-profit-toll-road-deal/1934822/

Edit: I share your disdain for Perry, maybe not as, uh, enthusiastically as you, though.

Signing a law and enforcement are two very different things

Yawn...Abbott sucks ass. Just because W and Perry were really bad doesn't mean abbott is good

Well he hasn't really done a great job advancing conservative priorities. And not only is his COVID response detestable, his COVID panel is corporate hacks and academics. And Mattress Mack for pandering purposes. Sorry, he's a statist shit bag who deserves the rope alongside Newsome and DeWine.

Abbott is a mixed bag for sure, as long as he doesn't lock us down again

Texan here. Met all 3 past governors. Abbott was doing well but now...I think he has his eye on loftier positions. I expect he will run for President.

I agree with this, especially after his mask debacle. I sent a message to the governors office saying I did not agree with him and never heard back. He wont get my vote. He's a RINO through and through, sits on the fence too much! If you sit on the fence looking to appease both sides then you don't have conviction either way.

I carry a copy of Abbott's 'Mask Mandate' with me so I can use it in a pinch. Its basically the most toothless mandate ever. It says something along the lines of 'Masks are recommended, but we can't force you and no one can bring legal or civil action against you should you refuse.'

SO I don't even think his mask mandate is really that bad. People can't even ban me for breaking 'store policy' cause to do that they would need to file a CTR or CTW against me, which they can't do because of the edict. Plus we have HEB down here and they are pretty based about the mask thing anyway.

Russian_ambassador 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yea I did that too, store owners don't give a shit. Heb in the Far West area went super Karen on a friend that can not wear a mask.

Even in smaller towns some folks don't give a shit about the paperwork. I had to quit my gym due to the faggot staff over masks. Oh you expect me to have 3 plates on my back with a mask or due HIIT training with it on.

"Veteran owned too"

Imagine running 7 mph on a treadmill with a fucking mask. I have trouble breathing without a mask.

Russian_ambassador 2 points ago +2 / -0

Tell that to the guy that was assulted and arrested in Walmart for one.

3
NotDangerousGame 3 points ago +3 / -0

In Texas?

Chicken_D 10 points ago +15 / -5

Abbot got a lot of hate for the "bars being closed but can be open if they serve food" thing but the guy stuck to his plan. Lets face it, if thats the worse we have to worry about we got it good.

Naw I'm not budging on the "it's only a little bit of slavery". Employers REQUIRE en mass statewide wear the mask or you don't work. Health condition, fuck you, and if you're broke good luck with suing.

Unemployment? Good luck getting someone on the phone if the employer screws you on this end.

Medical treatment and cancer screening all those months, nope. Sick mom dying in the ICU, can't see her and have to talk though a cell phone.

FUCK ABBOT. Playing political theatre with people's very lives.

Chicken_D 2 points ago +2 / -0

I work in Texas and my employer does NOT require a mask. It is not a statewide mandate. Go to Home Depot or Lowes or Walmart and there are people walking around without a mask.

The hospital thing is a HOSPITAL REQUIREMENT. Not a state requirement (That I am aware of correct me if Im wrong with sources)

Every state has long wait times for unemployment.

Naw tell that to people that can not wear a mask due to medical exemption and employer required.

Or the 17 year old that hung himself due to their histerical parents. Or the people that couldn't get cancer or health screenings for months that are now dead (but voted democrat).

It's beyond dishonest to think that's excusable or ANY Texas governor that is MAGA to let this shit go on.

Toothless mandate my ass.

Texas is slated to loose more than half of the small businesses in this state. Walmart, and all the big retailers require you to wear one no matter what or you'll get arrest, and put in a cage because you didn't act the part and wear something that's not only useless but dangerous.

Which one was this, then?

I think Abbott is awesome, despite the mask mandate as well. Hes so awesome he gets overwhelming Democrat votes as well. That may sound bad, but its because he has made Texas' economy extremely resilient.

Our Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is pretty damn based also. I would like Dan to be the next governor and Ken to replace KFC chicken bucket Bill Barr as AG during POTUS 2nd Term (or Pam Bondi if Ken is not interested in AG position).

3
bill_in_texas 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was irritated with Dan for wasting the legislature's time and all of his political capital on friggen' bathroom bills. That was all brought on by Houston's city council creating a bathroom free-for-all act that was eventually overturned by....the citizens of Houston, who sued to get it on the ballot, where even liberal Houstonians voted that shit down.

So it's not that I don't appreciate Dan's effort to get a statewide prohibition on men in women's bathrooms, but it became a Don Quixote like endeavor for him, and lots of other issues went on the back burner while Dan unsuccessfully tried to get that pet legislation passed.

Not a chance in hell he’d be chosen simply because he’s one of the least popular republicans in Texas. (His race was almost lost in the Cruz-Beto election, all other republicans had 9+ margins iirc. I believe Gov Abbott won by like 13
