In all seriousness, can you explain to me how your government works? Because you still have the queen and other royals walking around but also you elect officials right? The Queen is the sovereign and signs bills into law after the pass Parliament, but realistically she has no power. She will not give politcal opinions and would never veto anything as long as Parliament passed it
The Prime Minister and 650 members of Parliament are elected
The upper chamber (The Lords) is not elected, and serves as a check on Parliament

Is there an elected official for schools? Because to me the most important thing is making sure these kids growing up will have a good education and learn to spot bullshit and think for themselves. I was fortunate to have influential teacher who instilled that.
Local school board is a good place to start. I'm looking at running for mine when I change positions and stop traveling for work. If you can succeed at that level then move up.

I started loosely following politics in 2000 when I stayed up late with my dad watching the election. It was fascinating.
2008 I was devastated when Obama won, but I didnt like McCain either. 2012 I was all for Ron Paul and I didnt understand how he didnt win the primary (I do now, stolen).
2016 I hated all the canddiates. Then I watched a debate and saw Trump just own the stage. Everything he said made sense and was what I was waiting for from a politician. Then he delivered on as much as he could. I truly believe he saved our Country, at least for a time. 2016 was one of the best nights of my life.
Now this. What a rollercoaster. Cant wait until the dominoes start to fall.

I'm in largely the same boat. Five years ago, I was barely informed about anything. I was certainly not involved in politics. I knew I was a very conservative man, but that mostly manifested as rolling my eyes every pride month and trying to convince people that no, Christians are not evil.
I do politics as a hobby now. I get excited about CSPAN livestreams. I clear my schedule for senate hearings so I can make sure I catch all the action. I set up watch parties for presidential debates. President Trump makes politics fun.
