The plague was only able to cause so much damage because people didn't know to wash their hands after having them in literal shit.

Mostly fleas for the plague, and I know it can be transmitted via saliva of the infected and blood of the infected, but I don't know if it actually is transmittable through feces. E-coli and parasites are the big ones from shit.
